FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PLEASANTON, Calif., and SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 4, 2003 - ACCPAC International, Inc., a subsidiary of Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA), and Cyclone Commerce, the leading provider of solutions that help companies "simply connect" to their trading partners over the Internet, announced today that ACCPAC has expanded its license of Cyclone AS2 connections used by ACCPAC Exchange to enable the exchange of electronic trading documents with businesses such as Wal-Mart and other major retail trading communities that have adopted the AS2 electronic data interchange (EDI) standard.
ACCPAC Exchange already includes Cyclone Activator, allowing users of ACCPAC Advantage Series and ACCPAC Pro Series accounting software to simply and securely exchange documents such as purchase orders, advance ship notices and bills of lading over IBM’s Business Exchange Services, an Internet-based transfer service. The expanded use of Cyclone technology now adds the ability for users to trade with AS2 standard partners.
"The real promise of business collaboration over the Internet is realized when small and mid-size businesses are equipped with the tools to simply, securely and cost-effectively connect," said ACCPAC President and CEO David M. Hood. "ACCPAC Exchange, leveraging IBM and Cyclone technologies, is designed to do just that, enabling businesses to more easily and affordably exchange transactions with a variety of trading partners, including major retailers like Wal-Mart."
"Recent mandates by major retailers that suppliers connect via AS2 have left smaller businesses grappling with the cost and complexity of many AS2-compliant solutions," said Jeff Kukowski, Vice President of Marketing for Cyclone Commerce. "ACCPAC Exchange is a boon for small and mid-size companies that want to gain access to these potentially lucrative trading communities simply and inexpensively."
