| Navision Web Shop Wins Microsoft Award
Navision Software awarded the
"Best Solution Award" at SoftWorld in Munich
Atlanta (June 8, 1999) – At the Softworld trade show in
Munich last week, Microsoft singled out Navision Software with the "Best Solution
Award" for the most successful integration of e-commerce functionality in an ERP
solution. Navision Web Shop was awarded first prize for its functionality and flexibility,
while the second and third prizes went to solutions by Baan and Apertum.
The consultancy firm Koeppler & Partner presented the
Microsoft award together with German computer magazine is-report. Based on Microsoft
components, Navision Web Shop facilitates the running of an online shop directly from the
basic application Navision Financials.
The specialist jury emphasized the solution's brilliant
connectivity. Navision Web Shop is completely integrated with the Navision Financials
enterprise business solution and uses its business logic for ordering facilities,
logistics and quotes. All customer and order data are transferred online to avoid
reentering data. The jury also appraised features such as the practical shop setup and
catalogue design, its wide support of shipment methods, the low maintenance involved in
running the online shops, and the general user-friendliness of the solution.
Navision Web Shop supports the deployment of the Internet as
a new trading channel for mid-sized companies without the usual costs of integrating data
manually and undertaking HTML/CGI programming. The user can set up and maintain online
shops using the same intuitive and consistent Windows 98 graphical user interface found in
Navision Financials.
With Navision Web Shop, Web page design, customer and
prospect management, as well as order handling, are seamlessly integrated with Navision
Financials. Pertinent changes made in Navision Financials are immediately reflected on the
Web site, including detailed product information and photos.
Customers can also access all transaction history directly on
the Web site. Customers can always obtain information about their current deliveries,
order status, accounts and credit memos.
Navision Software bases its e-commerce solution on Microsoft
BackOffice components. A Navision Financials client represents the connection between the
Internet technology and the Navision Financials NT Server. Navision Software foresees a
